Why payroll automation testing is the gold standard

Here’s the thing about quality – it’s often the result of loads of testing. Because the cool thing about testing is that you always learn something new.

It literally helps you to find those gold nuggets – whether that’s identifying a performance issue, an unforeseen bug, or the means to solve a pesky edge case. Testers are the ones who unearth the unknowns, the gold that enables developers and our software to improve.

For 2cloudnine, automation testing helps to ensure our software continually meets the needs of our customers – that’s the gold standard for us.

Adelaide Greenaway, Head of Product at 2cloudnine, explained: “That’s why we’ve doubled down on our investment in automated testing – the process of conducting automated tests at scale on our software.”

Automated testing can apply to a range of tests – integration, unit, interface, regression testing and more. 2cloudnine uses ACCELQ because it’s tightly coupled with the Salesforce platform and enables efficient and reliable continuous testing.

“At 2cloudnine, over the past 9 months, we’ve invested heavily in the breadth of our pay interpretation automation testing, because that’s what our clients need assurance around. We’ve had a keen focus on creating complex test scenarios that deal with edge cases based on how our customers use our applications,” said Ana De Andrade, 2cloudnine’s Head of QA.

Demand for rapid release cycles are a fact of life these days, with legislative updates and compliance constantly changing as well as new software features coming online.

2cloudnine’s Desert Flame release for 2c9 Payroll recently included a range of significant enhancements, making payroll processes easier, with a broader set of capabilities for our customers.

“During the testing and development period, as well as the execution of specific test cases that related to each enhancement, we ran over 500 regression test scenarios daily to ensure everything was working as expected,” says Ana De Andrade.

The next release for 2cloudnine is Eucalyptus, slated for February 2025. (And yes, we’re channelling native Australian plants for inspiration and to remind us to get outdoors.)

So what are the benefits of automation testing for our customers?

Save time and money – it reduces manual work and is more efficient, effective and reliable than any human. And most automated tests can run repeatedly at any time.

To take it even further, 2cloudnine maintains a library of test scenarios many of which have come from customers’ direct use. This library of scenarios is ever expanding; it’s a real asset for our customers (and our business) to ensure accuracy across a broad set of conditions.

Reduce risk – it enables us to test critical business applications more quickly and address any performance issues or bugs before they become problems. And who doesn’t like being ahead of the game?

Ensure compliance – it’s fast and more accurate. (Those robots are certainly faster and more precise than any of us!) And the results provide an all-important record of compliance.
