What’s your role?
I’m the Head of Product Management for Payroll here at 2cloudnine. The main aspect of my role is identifying where updates need to be made to our product.
For example, when there’s a change in legislation that means a complete rebuild and redesign of several parts of our product so our clients can be compliant with that change. So I’m either making changes because of legislation updates, new client requirements or fixing anything that needs fixing.
There’s definitely a troubleshooting component to my role and I get lots of questions coming in from the rest of the team or partners about our product. There’s kind of an assumption that Andy will know the answer because Andy helped build it all!
What’s your favourite part of your role?
When you get to the end of all the changes and you can see the product is working well in the hands of people that need it, that’s really satisfying.
It’s great to know that something we built is helping make people’s job in payroll easier.
What’s the most exciting thing coming up for 2cloudnine and for the sector?
The most exciting thing is all the work we’re doing with AI. I’m looking forward to getting more involved with that and seeing how we can incorporate AI into the different areas of the product.
I’m really interested to see how AI will change the way that people interact with our products and how their roles change as a result. It’s going to have a huge impact on how people work day-to-day over the next few years, so I’m looking forward to seeing how that plays out.
What do you love most about 2cloudnine?
Throughout my career I’ve always worked on the user-side rather than the ‘builder’ side. So, joining 2cloudnine has been a huge learning opportunity and a chance to be more creative which I love.
We’re all very passionate about what we do in the Product team and we like seeing our ideas and development become a reality. I feel fortunate to work with such an intelligent and cohesive group of people.
I feel really lucky to be at 2cloudnine and a lot of that comes down to our CEO Adam Edmondson because he trusts the team and he lets you run with what you think is the right thing to do, he’s very supportive.
And what do you like to do outside of work?
I actually studied piano and composition at university in London – I don’t play as much as I’d like to now but I bought a new piano a couple of years ago so I’ve started picking it up again gradually.
My sister and I also recently started doing the world marathon majors together. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and once she recovered she wanted to do something to help raise money for a charity that supported her through that.
So she registered for the London Marathon and asked me if I’d want to do it with her. Now we’ve done London, Tokyo, New York, Chicago and Sydney. Now we’ve got Boston and Berlin in our sights – getting through the majors one challenge at a time.
It’s great to have you on the team, Andy!
