This release focuses on reducing manual effort, increasing accuracy, and giving payroll and operations teams greater flexibility to handle complex work patterns with confidence.
Here’s what’s new.
A new way to manage pay rates (Beta)
Flame Tree ’25 introduces the Agreements solution, a new framework designed to simplify how organisations manage pay rates, margins, and employment costs.
Agreements act as a single source of truth for rates, linking directly to clients and assignments. By automatically calculating pay and invoice rates using job roles, minimum pay rates, loadings, and employment costs, this new model reduces duplication, improves consistency, and removes reliance on manual rate calculators.
Smarter leave management for employees and payroll teams (Pilot)
Leave management has been enhanced to make planning, submitting, and processing leave easier for everyone involved.
Employees now have access to clearer calendar views that show leave, public holidays, and planned absences in one place. When submitting leave, work schedules are used to automatically calculate hours, reducing errors and rework.
Approved future leave can also flow directly into timesheets, while public holidays are applied automatically – ensuring the right leave types are always used.
More flexible timesheets and rate interpretation (New)
Flame Tree ’25 adds greater flexibility to timesheet interpretation, helping payroll teams manage complex scenarios with fewer records and less manual intervention.
Assignment rates can now be dynamically matched based on project codes or activities, reducing the number of rates required. Timesheets can also reference alternative public holiday calendars, making it easier to support employees working across multiple regions without duplicating assignments.
Performance improvements to pay batch creation further streamline payroll processing.
Improved handling of complex shifts and allowances (Update)
This release significantly enhances award interpretation for shift-based and healthcare environments.
Updates include greater control over penalty applications at shift start and end, shift-based pay code caps, improved interpretation of sleepover and wake-up shifts, and more flexible allowance calculations across weekends and public holidays.
The result is more accurate pay outcomes and fewer manual adjustments.
Compliance & data reliability improvements
Flame Tree ’25 also delivers important behind-the-scenes enhancements that improve accuracy, visibility, and trust in payroll data.
Superannuation data retrieval (New):
Improvements ensure scheduled superannuation fund retrieval runs reliably, with APRA and RSA fund data refreshed using the latest ATO information.
Single Touch Payroll lodgements (Update):
STP submissions now move more reliably to a completed status, providing clearer visibility of lodgement outcomes and improving confidence in compliance reporting.
Built to reduce manual work at scale (Update)
Bulk processing enhancements make it easier to manage large workforces.
Payroll teams can now automatically generate resource absences from leave events and bulk-create users and service resources for existing payees – reducing manual effort while maintaining data integrity.
